Abstract

The announcement that there is to be an ESRC funded Third Sector Research Centre and associated centres across the country would appear to be good news for the voluntary and community sector. In particular, for those (like ARVAC and its founders) who have a commitment to enhancing the research skills, expertise and capacity of the sector the establishment of such a centre should be welcomed. I would like to explore a different take on such a development and want to suggest that although it is an answer it is not one which addresses the really basic question
