What’s in a name: should nursing job titles be regulated?

Abstract

The profusion of job titles used in nursing creates confusion, undermines post-registration education, hampers career progression and obscures the value of specialist and advanced roles. This article illustrates the situation using the example of respiratory nursing and calls to regulation to address the issue.
