Abstract

Having a clear, shared vision that gives meaning to work is a health-promoting phenomenon in the workplace. Transformational leadership, therefore, focuses on the needs of others, rather than the needs of the leader. Transformational leaders strive for culture change to drive improvement and performance and use modern leadership techniques like empowerment and inspiration. This keynote presentation explores the four dimensions of transformational leadership (Bass, 1997) and carefully applies their relevance to leadership in teaching and learning with a particular focus on providing evidence in applying for HEA Fellowships (D3 and D4) and the National Teaching Fellowship.
