Abstract
The Skin I'm In is dance video and visual art installation project created by Turvey World Dance for Yorkshire Dance, Leeds 2017. The project explores the embodied experiences and reflections of dancer Gerry Turvey as she approaches her 65th birthday. Four videos were made for this project by dance video artist June Gersten Roberts, examining Turvey's skin in close detail, observing her movement in water and dancing unclothed. The videos were screened within a performance installation by visual artist Roger Bygott, and moving videos were projected onto the dancer's body, onto the walls and floor of the studio space and on to hanging paper screens, incorporated into the installation.
