    Abstract

The Ghost of Someone Not Yet Drowned was a multi-channel site-specific performance. In addition to the live performance, the work included a site-specific installation of sound and moving imagery, and an accompanying exhibition, which made explicit the implicit research within the making process. The work was installed and performed multiple times over the course of an evening in the large empty swimming pools at The Victoria Baths in Manchester. The primary concerns of the research was the multi-channel approach to space and the evolution of sound as a performance event. Points of consideration were how diffused sound can be combined with the natural acoustics in a performance space such as the Victoria Baths, and in turn how space can be a sound source that changes and evolves with a performer and audience.
