N1 - Funding Information: 26 The only initiative of substance to emerge was the creation of the Asia-Europe Trust Fund, whereby ECU 30.9m would help resource the provision of technical assistance for those East Asian financial sectors in most difficulty. No new policy framework was established to deal with potential crisis-induced problems that may affect EU-East Asia economic relations, though admittedly the EU did provide financial support via multilateral IMF programmes for East Asian countries which was only second to that conferred by Japan.
