The Bluecoat Building: origins and continuity

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Commentary and analysis from historical sources charting the transition from an 18th Century Liverpool charitable school institution to the United Kingdom's first 'arts centre'. Examination is made of the commonalities between communities and ad-hoc social networks and the contribution these make to a wider urban community through delineation of place. The long-standing question of architect and builder identity is also explored.
