Abstract

Commissioned fiction writers were partnered with expert consultants from the field of AI, artificial life and unconventional computing, to write stories exploring specific areas of AI. All of the stories are set in the year 2070. In 'The Bactogarden', Schofield, partnered with consultant Professor Martyn Amos, sought to explore the uses and abuses of synthetic biology; how it may be used to repair and maintain the tower blocks of the least well-off, to the extremes of haute cuisine that only the uber-wealthy can afford.
