    Abstract

Solo Uno, for solo clarinet, was premiered by Nicholas Cox at the International Clarinet Festival in Madrid on July 2015. It consists of three contrasting movements: a moderately paced first movement which shifts in character towards the end; a meditative slow, middle movement, and a folksy, brisk finale. In this final movement, I have exploited the higher upper range of the clarinet which has been developed inthe more recent history of the instrument.
