Abstract

Research exploring reflective practice and its role within sport practitioner development has recently passed its ten year milestone. Particular dominance has been observed within sports coaching and practitioner development within sport psychology, but more recently the utility of reflective practice has become documented and commented upon by a wider audience, including athletes and sport science practitioners. With this growth in mind, our aim is to reflect back on the development of reflection and reflective practice in the sport domain, noting the established approaches used for engagement and dissemination through a systematic search of the literature and provide suggestions for moving research forwards to inform future research and practice.
