Primary Physical Education Core Tasks Revisited

With the introduction of the Ofsted Research Review for physical education (2022), a number of the university’s partner primary schools wanted support with sequencing their physical education (PE) curriculum in games. A detailed curriculum plan was devised based on a tactical games approach (Mitchell, Oslin and Griffin, 2021). This plan incorporated target learning tasks (or core tasks) for each year group to enable pupils to demonstrate their motor competence and knowledge of strategies and tactics.
