Abstract
Online learning networks for GPs offer an exciting opportunity to share knowledge and learn from one another. We describe the development and evaluation of a pilot study for a group of inner-city GPs in northwest England. The online network offered a structured approach, with initial socialisation and action learning set type activities. There was a low level of network activity throughout the project and the online discussions were superficial. Trust between the members of the online network was low, and this inhibited online discussion. Several suggestions to improve participation are made and these are relevant for the further development of online learning networks for continuing professional development.
