Abstract

This study explores the transitions experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer (LGBTQ+) students throughout their university education. Formby (2015) highlighted the negative experiences of LGBTQ+ students in higher education in her report of a study evidencing how LGBTQ+ students experience negative campus climates, discrimination and invisibility in the curriculum. Existing literature often emphasises the experiences of gay male students and there is limited research on the experiences of lesbian, bisexual and trans students. Literature exploring intersectional identities of students is also limited.
