Abstract
This book chapter is a reflection on the process of writing biography, and the creative process, also how this impacts upon the content of writing presented as 'non-fiction' but which is written in a style more familiar to readers of fiction. The chapter focuses on the author's experience of writing about the life of Alasdair Gray, the Scottish polymath, writer and artist.
