Just teach will ya!

Abstract

In today’s academic market PhD students have to be multi-skilled. Not only do we need to write our thesis and do our research, but we are also often expected to teach. Whilst this provides an opportunity to develop valuable skills, it can be a challenge to meet the demands of teaching and research. With minimal experience, the idea of teaching can be quite daunting, and there is little support or training available. This event provides an opportunity to share and celebrate good practice and provide you with some guidance and advice with practitioners with a wealth of experience.

The day’s discussions will be inspired by two formal addresses by Dr Richard Bale and Dr Dawne Irving-Bell. There will also be opportunities to meet other members of the NRN to facilitate future collaborations and connections. We recognise that the life of an ECR can be quite isolated so we want to help our members connect and build a supportive community.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

The New Researchers’ Network Committee are happy to announce their winter event, which is to be held in the John Lewis Community Hub, Birmingham, 10am-4pm on the 6th February 2020.
