    Abstract

One hundred and fifty wives of alcoholics were compared with an equal number of wives of non-alcoholics and matched on key socio-demographic variables. Instruments to study the manifestation of Communication Apprehension and their Marital Adjustment were administered. Data analysis revealed that wives of alcoholics showed statistically significant greater Communication Apprehension towards their spouses and reported poor Marital Adjustment than the reference group. The therapeutic implications of these findings have been discussed.
