International Franchising Strategy of Firms and Influences of Entry Mode Agility: A Conceptual Overview

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

The current research explores the agility characteristics of international franchising modes. More specifically, this study investigates theoretically how robustness, responsiveness and proactiveness as the dimensions of agility are related to the different franchising modes (direct franchising, master franchising, franchising through joint venture and franchising through wholly owned subsidiary). The paper proposes that the agility dimensions align differently depending on the type of franchising mode. This indicates challenges in choosing an optimal franchising mode in terms of agility, as none of them seem to be able to be both robust, responsive and proactive at the same time.
