Abstract

Thirty-four studies addressing recent events that remain in the memories of many, by historians that lived through them, in a time in which their dramatic character has made them an enduring moral problem for the national conscience. The “living past” of political violence in Argentina, Chile and Peru interpreted by historians and other specialists, with studies on Brazil, Guatemala, Germany, Spain, France, Northern Ireland, Poland, the United States and Japan offering a comparative dimension.
