Abstract

Traumatic injury places a significant burden on individuals and the wider society as one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity of the young in England [1]. Penetrating trauma outside of military conflict is most often sustained by assault or self-inflicted injury. We reviewed the impact of penetrating trauma in our institution, a busy major trauma centre (MTC) in the northwest of England over a 15-month period.
