Abstract
Leadership is not based on a model whereby a selected group of people in management positions claim the power in the organisation. Instead it embraces a vision of shared power, providing opportunities for all to develop and use their leadership skills in formal or informal settings. For example, a head teacher in the public sector; or in a more informal setting leading a community group initiatives. We need to examine the structures we have come from, and consider how our experience informs our current practices and look for solutions to transform our organisations and communities into safe, equitable and inclusive places.
A collection of narratives written by a range of leaders in education. What inspires them to lead, the experiences they bring into their role and how effective leadership inspires teams and future leaders. The writings also examine what makes good leadership. Interspersed in the book are inspirational quotations from leaders in education.
