Abstract

Second-order Markovian MIDI Transformation Tool utilising the gtm.markov external from the gtm.markov Max package. Enables second-order Markovian transformations of monophonic melodies directly inside Ableton Live MIDI clips. Markov chains derive the result of the current calculation according to the outcome of those which have preceded it. Second-order Markov chains base the calculation of the next value on the two preceding values, meaning that generated results strike a pleasing balance between novelty and familiarity and are ideal for application to melodies.
