Abstract

This submission focuses on research into student disengagement and vocational learning. Its purpose is to highlight some of the underpinning factors of when and why students disengage and how this can impact on the further education sector. It also argues a need to revisit the currency and perceived relevancy of English and maths skills and knowledge for vocational students, and to build opportunities for smoother transitions into the sector.
