Abstract
For feedback to become effective in improving future performance and to avoid the frustrations that are experienced by both the deliverers and recipients of feedback, we do need more training but this training needs to move beyond simplistic models, such as the ‘feedback sandwich’, to a more nuanced appreciation of the conditions required to ensure that feedback can attain its educational potential.
