Abstract

This is a methodological text for research students, doctoral supervisors and those social researchers engaged in inquiry that has an evaluative component - ie. that involves judgement of any kind of public and professional action. It covers evaluative research methods, ethics, politics, philosophy and history. There is a particular focus on the democratic role of inquiry and on case methods.
