Abstract

The purpose of this symposium is to present current research on coaches’ learning and behaviour. A number of projects will be discussed, which include: • The impact of an on-line learning community on coaches’ behaviour and perceptions of learning. • The use of systematic observation and interview data by senior coaches to inform the mentoring process. • Coaches’ interpretations of their clubs philosophy and how this aligns with their coaching. • The types of learning sources that contributes toward changes in coaches’ behaviour over the course of a full, football season. • Head coach-assistant coach dyads: role perceptions and coaching behaviours • A review of systematic observation research in coaching. Positioning this research method within our field.
