Abstract
This research results paper aims to explore (i) the growth patterns of circular enterprises, (ii) impact of growth on the design and the ability of the business model to capture triple-bottom-line value in craft cidermaking context. Craft cideries are circular born enterprises. The research questions suggest an exploratory research approach based on interviews triangulated with a survey study, in-depth case study analysis and secondary data analysis. The mechanism of abductive inferences is used. 23 in‐depth interviews were conducted throughout four years. The scaling up growth pattern hinders the ability to manage integrated hybrid tensions, collective value creation, value chain and supply chain risks. Eventually the original circular business model transitions into a more linear form in its design. Scaling out and scaling deep also affect the original triple-bottom-line value.
