Abstract
Walkers are identifiable through the wearing of matching yellow high-vis jackets. Using the Strava app greenandowens will map the routes that each person takes, in doing so we will identify the queer ‘safe spaces’ in the city of Manchester. The work takes as its inspiration Suzanne Lacy’s Across and In-Between.
As part of Suzanne Lacy's What Kind of City exhibition, the gallery will hold a 4-day summit where together we will ask how art can offer people centred strategies for us to become more active and creative citizens. Taking an interconnected approach, the summit convenes voices from communities in Manchester to propose creative strategies in key areas of concern: youth agency, ageing and intersectionality, borders, and social cohesion.
Borderlines is made in solidarity across and against all borders.
