Abstract

Nature – an overwhelmingly creation of the God. Our nature is consists of total 390,800 species of plants, is decreasing due to numerous reasons. Existing research indicates that the Global warming is one of the leading causes of this reduction and strong steps need to be taken to address this problem. Through this paper, we are trying to spread awareness about different plant species with believe that it might be useful to reduce the Global warming. We propose a new method to classify leaves using data visualization. The proposed method uses a database of maintained plant species, which then used for classification purpose that utilizes image processing techniques. The proposed method relies on shape properties such as area, perimeter, centroid and bounding box values. We use image processing toolbox (available with MATLAB) to determine shape properties of the leaf samples of 11 different plant species. Experimental results are collected and presented using the scatter graph, which divides the samples into two different groups.
