Abstract

In March 2009 Hewison (with Paul Davies, the Artistic Director of Volcano Theatre Company) was invited by the British Council to co-lead a series of Intercultural Workshops leading to the creation of two new performances by emerging artists in Qatar and Kuwait. The project examined the theme of water, and was the first attempt by the British Council to introduce contemporary and physical-theatre work to mixed-gender participants in this region, was additionally sponsored by Arts Council England and Arts Council Wales.
