Современная социальная работа: введение в теорию и практику

This textbook presents the specifics of modern social work as a social institution, a sought-after field of professional activity, an interdisciplinary field of theoretical knowledge, and a field of specialist training. It analyzes the factors in the development of social work in the context of its relationship with social policy, which determines methods for providing assistance to consumers of social services. Particular attention is paid to the development of the professionalism and competence of social workers as specialists in the helping profession. The sections of the textbook feature relevant materials from open lectures given by the founder of the St. Petersburg Scientific School in the field of social work theory, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Vyacheslav Nikolaevich Kelasyev, Head of the Department of Social Work Theory and Practice at St. Petersburg State University.
