This proposed work will draw on the existing nationally recognised work of the applicants including published empirical studies (Bray et al 2016, Bray et al 2018a, Bray et al 2018b), literature review (Bray et al 2016) and national professional guidance (RCN 2019). It will benefit from international collaboration to develop a clear and clinically relevant definition of clinical holding and restraint in acute children’s practice and identify priorities for action (policy and practice).
