A practice-led and Autoethnographic Engagement with Solo Performance and Stigmatised Objects

Project Details

Description

This three-year, practice-led research project, which looked at the status of agency in performance, resulted in three solo artefacts – The Ten Inch Heels, Unstable and Pol(e)arity of Self. Each artefact was used to express solo and subjective creative process, as well as providing a platform for gathering data from audiences about the female body, through the body. Data sets included peer review, video documentation, journal entry and audience survey. The research has shown a firm model for reframing objectification through performance.
