    Biography

    Stephanie has worked as a early years and primary teacher in Wiltshire, Staffordshire and across Forces schools in Germany and Cyprus. The latter experiences led to an interest in mental health and wellbeing. Stephanie took this into her first role within Higher Education at St Martin's College and the Unviersity of Cumbria. Here she worked as an Early Years Senior Lecturer, and then as a Principal Lecturer for 13 years. In this role she looked after the undergraduate provision for ITE. 

    Stephanie has taken a role as Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill focussing on SEND and Mental health and wellbeing. 

    Teaching

    Stephanie has taught across a range of programmes  and is contributing to the SEND and Mental health curriculums.  She has responsibility for the distant placements, in particular Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic. She leads on the transition and modelling ITAPS for the Post graduate programmes. 

    Research interests

    Research interests include having a strong interest in child centred and child focussed research. Consideration for new teachers mental health and wellbeing and workload has been explored through the Cooper,H. and Elton-Chalcraft,S.(eds.) (2022) 'Professional Studies in Primary Education. 4th edition.Los Angeles: Sage with a chapter on 'Teacher Wellbeing' written with J.Glazzard.

    External engagement

    Stephanie has held various external roles while working in Higher Education. She continues to support Blackburn and Blackpool colleges as a Consultant through Lancaster University.  In addition she will be beginning an External Examiner role at Liverpool John Moores. 

    Stephanie has presented at a variety of conferences including BPS, TEAN and UCET. She also presented at an international conference in Barclona on the subject of managing mental health as an early career teacher.
