Biography
Sarah Crosby is a Senior Lecturer in Nures Education. Upon completion of her nurse training she took up a post as a newly qualified staff nurse at a large acute paediatric trust in the North West of England. Before moving over to nurse education, Sarah worked as a ward sister on a paediatric surgical ward. She spent a number of years seconded to Edge Hill University supporting the delivery of clinical skills and simulation.
Teaching
Sarah's first experience in academia was during a 3 year secondment to Edge Hill where she supported the development and delivery of clinical skills and simulation. She has worked permanently as a lecturer at Edge Hill University since 2013.
Sarah is an active Validation and Audit Standing Panel member, responsible for ensuring that new and existing educational provision meets nationally-defined standards and complies with the University's own regulations. She contributed to the development of the current BSc, Msci Dual Award and RNDA Nursing programmes, and led in the design and implmentation of the PGDIP Second Registration Nursing programme at Edge Hill University.
Sarah currently leads the BSc Nursing programme.
Sarah is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has held a Solstice Fellowship for the last 4 years.
Research interests
Sarah's research interest is focussed on Student Engagement. She is currently acaedmic lead for engagement within the department and is exploring how greater interrogation of engagement data trends can be used to enhance the student journey and to positively influence B3 outcomes.
Additional research interests include using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
External engagement
Sarah represents the Children's Nursing Department at North-West joint HEI Child Field Partnership engagement events. She also holds an external post as a Local Academy Councillor for Endeavor Learning Trust. Their role is to support and critically appraise the quality of the work of the Academy leadership and to provide scrutiny and challenge of the educational provision at local Secondary and Sixth Form establishments.
