    Personal profile

    Biography

I am a politics and communication scholar with expertise in Eastern European migration policies, diaspora activism, transnational mobilities and nationalism. I am also interested in the way communication technologies support and enhance practices of mobility, border crossing and cosmopolitanism. Some of my research focuses on the potential of social media to support the political engagement and activism of marginalized groups, particularly diasporas. I research the impact of public debate and media discourse on migration policy, with particular application to Eastern Europe. My research considers political communication as an important conduit in framing mobility as a political issue. My work also engages with the post-colonial context of Eastern Europe, read through the lens of media, creative arts and political discourse.
