Biography

Ross Armstrong is a lecturer in Sports Therapy in the Department of Sport and Physical Activity. He is also a Chartered Physiotherapist with Health Care Professions Council registration.

Ross teaches across a number of modules and supervises students in the Sports Injury Clinic. He joined Edge Hill in 2013 having worked as a physiotherapist with the NHS, military, private practice and with Carlisle United FC and Gillingham FC.

Ross has also worked at the London and Rio Olympic games, Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Baku European Games and World Athletics Championships. He has worked with Liverpool Ladies FC and Wigan Athletic and currently works part-time with Liverpool FC.

Research interests

Ross’s research focuses on musculoskeletal screening and injury prevention with a particular interest in dance. He has completed a PhD in musculoskeletal screening: Implications for injury and performance. He is the author of a number of papers that have investigated the relationship between hypermobility and performance.

He is a Cochrane review trained author and has been part of a team that has published a Cochrane review regarding bronchiectasis treatment.

Ross has presented at international conferences in Brazil and the UK.
