Personal profile
Biography
I am a Trauma & Orthopaedic SpR in the Mersey deanery, having obtained my NTN in 2019 and ACF role in 2025. Between 2020 and 2024 I took time out of programme to undertake a Clinical Research Fellow role at the Centre for Trauma Sciences, Queen Mary University of London, working on clinical trials in major trauma and undertaking a PhD entitled 'Predicting critical outcomes in trauma: Development, validation, and evaluation of prognostic models for civilian, austere, and military settings'. I previously completed an MSc in Orthopaedic Trauma Sciences at QMUL, graduating with a Distinction. My Masters dissertation was a systematic review of the accuracy of scoring systems to predict amputation in paediatric mangled limb injuries. In addition to my MBChB from the University of Aberdeen, I intercalated at QMUL to receive a BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Engineering. My undergraduate dissertation was on confocal and electron microscopy of glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis in murine models.
Research interests
My research as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow is on mangled limb injuries. My work involves qualitative studies on the surgical decision making process of opting for amputation vs limb salvage, as well as analysis of large datasets to establish the current incidence and outcomes for these life-changing traumatic injuries.
