    Biography

    Senior lecturer - Nurse education. 

    Adult nurse with experience in renal nursing, mainly focussing on acute and maintenance dialysis. 

    Experience gained across 3 higher education institutions. 

    Research interests

    The professional development and professional identity of the renal nurse.

    Qualitative research - experience of using hermeneutic phenomenology.

    Research projects 

    Exploring the impact of university educational programmes on the renal nurse’s practice. A work-based project undertaken in part fulfilment of an Educational Doctorate (EdD). 

    Exploring the caring experiences of haemodialysis nurses - a qualitative study. In part fulfilment of an MSc Management of Long-term Health Conditions. 

     

     

    Teaching

    A broad range of experience of teaching pre and post registration healthcare professionals across all academic levels. A sigificant level of experience in programme leadership, curriculum design and quality assurance processes to support successful programme delivery. 

    External engagement

    Sept. 2022 – Aug. 2026 External Examiner, University of Glasgow. Pre-registration Nursing (Bachelor Programme).


    Sept. 2020 – Sept. 2024 External Examiner, University of Huddersfield. Specialist skills and post registration development for post-registration healthcare professionals.


    Oct. 2018 – Sept. 2022 External Examiner, Glasgow Caledonian University. Pre-registration Nursing Programme – accelerated MSc Nursing – Adult Nursing.
