Personal profile
Biography
I completed my PhD (topic: children's inference generation) at Lancaster University and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Psychology at Lancaster University (2015-2022), on projects investigating the development of language and literacy skills in children and adolescents. Following this, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh (2022 - 2024). I commenced my role as a Lecturer in Psychology at Edge Hill University in March, 2024.
Research interests
My research investigates cognitive and affective aspects of reading. I am interested in the development of cognitive skills that support children's reading comprehension, with a focus on inference generation. I am also interested in exploring how reading supports wellbeing, across the lifespan. My recent research has involved collaboration with external partners such as literacy and library charities.
