    Biography

    Dr Muhammad Waqar is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security in the Department of Computer Science. He holds a PhD from Sejong University, Seoul, South Korea, and has held academic positions internationally, including Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and Research Associate. He also has hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining grid and cloud computing infrastructures, supported by specialised training from international institutions. This experience informs his research-led teaching and ensures close alignment with industry practices.

    Dr Waqar has over 12 years of experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate cyber security and computing modules. He previously led and delivered modules for degree apprentices in the UK.

    He has published in well-reputed journals and international conferences and is actively involved in the global research community as a conference lead and organiser, journal and conference reviewer, and editorial board member, including guest editorships for special issues.
    His work focuses on industry-aligned cyber security research, applied practice, and the development of highly skilled cyber security professionals. In addition, Dr Waqar has strong expertise in curriculum and module design aligned with educational taxonomies and has served as a team lead on a range of academic and administrative committees.
