    Matt is a lecturer in Film, Media and Television at Edge Hill University having previously taught at the University of Lancaster and the University of Liverpool. His research is primarily interested in the representation of children in screen media, particularly British and European cinema but focuses increasingly on the pedagogical potentials of film making in Further Education Settings, prosumption and young peoples engagement with social media. His first monograph, The Child in British Cinema, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2022.
