    Biography

    Marcus trained as a Secondary Mathematics teacher and taught in FE, leading a mathematics department prior to working for 10 years at Liverpool John Moores University, where he diversified into broader mathematics education, leading the BA Hons (QTS) in Primary and Secondary Mathematics Education and BA Hons Mathematics and Education Studies programmes. He briefly returned to schools in a senior leadership role prior to joining the Primary Mathematics team at Edge Hill. Marcus was Programme Lead for the MA Specialist Primary Mathematics Practice programme, and was Course Lead for the PGCE Primary Education (satellites) programme, as well as leading the Assessment strand across the 5 - 11 provision. He now teaches on the BSc (hons) Secondary Mathematics Education course.

    Research interests

    Marcus is broadly interested in Mathematics education, especially in the interaction of policy and curriculum and the way assessment at all levels drives children's educational experiences.

    Teaching

    Marcus teaches mathematics subject knowledge modules on the undergraduate Secondary Mathematics QTS course. He also supervises postgraduate students.
