    Personal profile

    Biography

I am currently an Associate Head in the department of Social Work and Wellbeing, Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. I joined Edge Hill in January 2021 to lecture on and then lead the training programme for Education Mental Health Practitioners.  Preceeding this, I had worked as a Children and Young People's Wellbeing Practitioner, delivering early intervention across community settings whilst being part of a CAMHS team.  I had spent 16 years before this as a teacher, mainly in sixth form and FE.  It is this experience of working in Education, alongside an interest in mental health which forms the basis of my research interests. I am investigating how to develop positive school cultures regarding mental health and how staff can be supported to care for their own mental health and wellbeing, in addition to that of their students.
