    Biography

    I am a 3rd year PhD student at Edge Hill University based in the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine. My background is secondary school teaching where I taught Food and Nutrition related subjects at GCSE and level 3. I was also a departmental head where I overran the delivery, marking and planning of all food and nutrition related courses. After leaving teaching I did my Masters in Public Health Nutrition then worked as a researcher for Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Leeds. These positions led to the publication of 2 systematic review papers which were: The oxidative stability of omega-3 oil in water nanoemulsion systems suitable for functional food enrichment (LJMU) and Identifying validated dietary assessment tools, (UoL). I have presented at the Nutrition Society annual conferences on 2 occasions and introduced and presented at the launch of the Nutritools website (a website that hosts a range of dietary assessmen tools for health professionals) at the University of Leeds.

    Teaching

    My background is secondary school teaching where I taught a range of food and nutrition based courses at GCSE and level 3 for 8 years. I was also a deptartmental head where I overran the planning, delivery and assessment of GCSE courses. I have also had some sessional lecturing experience in Liverpool John Moores University and at the University of Leeds. As part of my GTA duties I teach on several modules which are; Research Methods, Professional and Academic Skills, Nutrition and Metabolism in Health and Disease and Nutrition, Physiology and Anatomy.

    Research interests

    Research interests include the affects of migration and acculturation on dietary habits, dietary assessment in hard to reach groups and nutritional status of vulnerable groups. I have 2 published systematic review research projects which are: 'The oxidative stability of omega-3 oil-in-water nanoemulsion systems suitable for functional food enrichment' and Identifying Validated Dietary Assessment Tools. Both papers were published in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition
