Mrs KATE PARR, MNurSci, RN

Kate Parr MNurSci, RN is a Senior Lecturer in Nurse Education within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine at Edge Hill University, where she is aligned to the MSci (Adult) Nursing programme.

Kate brings over 15 years of Emergency Department nursing experience and has spent the last 7 years practising as a Major Trauma Nurse Practitioner. Her clinical background informs her strong commitment to developing highly skilled, compassionate, and practice-ready healthcare professionals.

Passionate about excellence in nurse education, Kate specialises in teaching major trauma management and advanced clinical skills, and is dedicated to fostering innovative, high-quality learning experiences for students and professionals alike. She is committed to contributing to academic excellence, pedagogic innovation, and the advancement of trauma-focused education within Higher Education.

Kate also serves as the KnifeSavers Regional Lead for Healthcare Education Institutions, actively supporting the charity’s mission to equip individuals with the knowledge and confidence to manage life-threatening bleeding. In this role, she leads educational events and collaborates with healthcare and academic organisations to embed this essential training across the region.

Alongside her academic and clinical interests, Kate contributes to the wider professional community as a peer reviewer for the Emergency Nurse journal, helping to shape and uphold the quality of contemporary emergency nursing scholarship.
