Personal profile
Biography
I am a registered Operating Department Practitioner with over eleven years of HCPC registration and extensive experience across both clinical and academic perioperative education. I began my career at Manchester Royal Infirmary, where I specialised in scrub practice and surgical first assisting within hepatobiliary, general, colorectal, emergency and upper gastrointestinal surgery. This foundation provided me with strong clinical expertise and a deep understanding of complex surgical pathways and multidisciplinary teamwork.
I later progressed into the role of Practice Education Facilitator within Manchester Foundation Trust, supporting ODP students across multiple hospital sites and strengthening my skills in clinical teaching, pastoral support and partnership working.
I joined Edge Hill University as a Lecturer in Practice Learning and now teach and lead across a range of undergraduate and practice modules, including advanced perioperative skills and practice assessment modules. I am also Programme Lead for the BSc ODP Apprenticeship, where I have successfully overseen significant programme expansion, strengthened employer partnerships and ensured compliance with HCPC, apprenticeship and University quality standards.
