JUSTIN LYON

Justin Lyon joined Edge Hill University in March 2020 as a Practice Education Lecturer (PEL), which included the duties of supporting students during their placements in clinical practice. However, after 2 weeks in post, the Covid 19 Pandemic struck, ending all student placements for the foreseeable future. During this time, Justin adapted his role to that of Nursing Lecturer via online teaching. This identified a desire & keen interest for teaching, learning, and educating students within mental health nursing. Therefore, a change of role occured and Justin became a Lecturer in Nursing Education (Mental Health) within the 2nd year BSc programme. 

Formerly a fitness instructor professional, he studied Mental Health Nursing at Edge Hill University, graduating with 2:2 Class Honours in 2011.  Justiin worked in the NHS as a Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) in St Helens for his initial 12 months post graduation, then moved to Knowsley for a further 7 years.

Justin is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Mental Health Nurse.  He is also a Fellow of Higher Education, achieving this in November 2022.
