Biography
John joined Edge Hill University Business School in 2000 as an associate tutor he became a lecturer in 2001. The lecturer role was across the Business School and continuing Education where he assisted in the development of Fastrack by leading the Developing Academic Study Skills (DASS) module. Within the Business School he led the development of the Academic portfolio and became Associate Director in 2008 with responsibility for the student experience. John successfully bid for £12,000 to work with local colleges to develop foundation degrees in Accountancy that were delivered at Hugh Baid College, Knowsley College and Riverside College.
In 2018 John was asked to lead the development of an Apprenticeship Degree in Business Leadership and Management 2020 with a top 100 company. In 2019 John led the bid for ESF funding for a programme of leadership for SME’s in Lancashire. He Directed the Leading Lancashire Programme which boosted the leadership of over 800 Lancashire Employees from over 600 SME’s with many achieving a Chartered Management Award. This programme has continued with the Liverpool City Region as a ‘Leadership for Growth’ programme and also into West Lancashire.
Outside University John has held roles as Charity Trustee and is a Finance Director of a Social Enterprise specialising in childcare supporting a local rural school. The business successfully bid and drew down £250,000 and built a new childcare centre opened by our Chancellor (Tanya Byron) in 2010. Additionally, he has acted as a voluntary Finance Director for the local rugby club assisting in the successful multiple-bid for over £200,000 to reinvigorate the clubs facilities.
