Biography
Evelyn Carnegie is Head of Department of Sport and Physical Activity where she leads the Department’s senior management team and is also Programme Leader for its undergraduate sports therapy programme.
She joined Edge Hill in 1997 as a lecturer in Sports Psychology and was promoted to the role of Head of Department in 2001. Since her appointment as Head of Department she has overseen the development and introduction of the current portfolio of programmes which led to a major expansion of the department. She was awarded her PhD from the University of Ulster Jordanstown in 1997 following the completion of her BA (Hons) Sports Studies (1992) from the same institution. Her teaching experience at Ulster included delivery of sports psychology modules at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
Research interests
Evelyn’s research focuses on visual perception and action in sport and skill acquisition with a particular emphasis on understanding the underpinning mechanisms of ocular motor control and its impact performance across a range of settings including sports performance and clinical education.
