Biography
Emma Street is a Senior Lecturer in Nurse Education (Mental Health). She is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with twenty years of mental health experience. She has worked within a variety of mental health clinical settings, most recently within substance misuse services and medicines management as lead nurse.
Emma has been working within Higher Education settings since 2014 within the fields of non-medical prescribing and pre-registration nursing.
Emma's passion is working to provide high quality teaching that will enhance student experience and support excellence in the future of mental health nursing.
Research Interests
Emma is currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care. This specifically focuses on the transition of expert practitioners within specialist fields to novice and then competent Non-Medical Prescribers within duration of Non-Medical Prescribing programme, with a particular focus on the teaching methods employed to enable this transition.
Other interests include: Non-Medical Prescribing, shared decision making and impact on staff and patients, role of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) within acute mental health settings, substance misuse and mental health
External Engagement
Emma is an active member of the Mental Health Academics Network UK (MHAUK) this being a collective membership of a number of Mental Health Nursing Academics from other universities / higher education institutions across the UK focused on improving mental health nurse education.
